GETTING TO KNOW SERBIAN TRADITIONS AND CUSTOMS-BELGRADE

The 6-day course is intended for teachers from different European countries, with the aim of introducing them to Serbian traditions through interactive workshops, practical activities, fieldwork and intercultural exchange. Participants will gain knowledge about the Serbian language and script, folk art, music, dance, rituals, gastronomy and crafts, as well as ways to apply this content in their work with students. All topics will be covered through national historical frameworks, which will allow participants to gain knowledge not only about Serbian, but also about the history of the entire Balkans. Through this topic, participants will gain a picture of Serbia’s past and its influence on the present.
This course will enable participants to better understand other cultures, but also to present their own. Visits to local museums, churches, libraries, etc. will encourage participants to have a broader understanding of cultural aspects in their countries. Through active participation, they will have a clearer picture of the topic, but also of the host country. The course will contribute to breaking stereotypes and strengthening European cultural dialogue. By noticing cultural similarities and differences, participants will recognize that we share the same European values, which directly affects the development and nurturing of students’ national and European identity.
