GETTING TO KNOW SERBIAN TRADITIONS AND CUSTOMS-BELGRADE
Develop intercultural competences – through understanding different traditions, teachers will improve their abilities to work in multicultural classrooms
For today’s teachers, addressing the ecological crisis in the classroom has often become a frustrating task that oscillates between conveying dry technical data and the risk of causing eco-anxiety or apathy among pupils. Educational research has shown for decades that overloading working memory with catastrophic statistics does not lead to real behavioural change. The mistake lies not in the urgency of the message, but in a traditional approach that appeals solely to reason, ignoring the fact that human decisions and community engagement stem from emotional bonds and eco-social identity. This course proposes a pragmatic, honest paradigm shift that is deeply connected to current active methodologies. Drawing on the latest evidence from behavioural sciences and the European framework for sustainability competences (GreenComp), the programme equips teachers with a low-cost toolkit based on play, art and Place-Based Pedagogy. Educators from different international backgrounds will share an active training space designed not to demand utopian projects, but to integrate dynamics of sensory reconnection, ARTivism and playful pedagogy into the everyday learning situations of any subject, restoring teachers’ confidence, judgement and motivation to educate in the era of the climate emergency.
